Massive Exposure for New Authors
by: Seth Thomas Mullins
Most writers nowadays are aware of the current buzz on the internet: writing articles is one of the best ways to build name recognition and web presence. Here are some words of encouragement for those just starting out with this approach to promotion.
By now most of you are probably aware of the current buzz across the internet: writing articles about your area of expertise is one of the best ways to build name recognition and web presence. If you can communicate your ideas and information well in a short piece, and include a by-line at the end that provides a link to your own website, then you can generate more traffic this way than by other typical approaches like submitting to search engines or link-sharing.
Much has been written about it, so I’ll assume that you’re already privy to the potential benefits of article publishing. I want to address THIS particular article to writers with published works; especially those who have self-published, and are now faced with the daunting (and much different) task of self-promotion.
Newsletters ? Keeping Your Customers Informed
January 28, 2008
Many businesses use email newsletters to introduce themselves to new customers and to maintain contact with existing and past clients. By sending useful and relevant information on a consistent, regular basis, you maintain constant contact without the risk of irritating and alienating your customers. Your email newsletter will also enhance your credibility and increase sales.
The following article offers advice on how to produce your own newsletter. For more detailed information on how to establish credibility and build online relationships, download our guide "Building Online Relationships" here: http://www.enable-uk.co.uk/html/book_4.html
Producing your newsletter doesn’t have to be a daunting task. The first thing you need to decide upon is the frequency of publication. This is could be based on how much time you can devote to writing each month or possibly the frequency of new offers or products you would like to extend to your potential customers. A frequency of bi-monthly to monthly has been shown to achieve the best results and will probably be a comfortable pace for both you and your readers.
Forget About “Talent”!

Forget About “Talent”!
by: Steven Barnes
How is a writer to access her deepest and most powerful wells of creativity? How do we tap into our talent, our genius, our greatest potential for success? Writing classes often tell us how to plot, or structure, or build characters, or create poetic images, but the question of accessing our excellence is a slippery and elusive one. It is possible we’ll need to go outside our usual sources to find an answer.
Many will merely say “be born with talent,” coldly suggesting that writers are “born” with a particular amount of potential, and that one either has this or not. And you know? There is a certain amount of truth to this. It is hard to argue with the idea that geniuses like Mozart or Shakespeare were gifted. But the nature versus nurture argument is both fascinating and, for the average person, irrelevant. After all, since we can’t go back and choose our grandparents, what are we to do? Just abandon our dreams of excellence if we don’t happen to be one of the gifted few?
Discover Your Creativity
January 27, 2008
You have a choice. Do you want to be constructive and positive in a unique way? Or do you want to be destructive and negative in a unique way? History has proven the futility of the latter goal. So let’s focus on your unique capacity to better yourself and those around you.
In western music there are 12 notes per each octave on the keyboard. Only 12 notes. From these simple 12 notes come the various musical works of Mozart, Brahms, Rossini, Beethoven, Donizetti, Bach, Strauss, Wagner, Puccini, Verde, Gershwin, Gilbert & Sullivan, Rogers & Hammerstein. The Beetles, Merle Haggard, Marti Robbins, Louis Armstrong, Elvis, Aretha Franklin, Little Richard, Pointer Sisters and countless other unique performers, composers, and musical forms. What a variety from 12 basic notes!
As a growing copywriter and Cyberspace Marketeer, I often seek new ideas and ways of doing stuff.. But before this process can happen, I have to "pay my dues." I do this through research over the Internet. I get out and socialize, during work time and play time. Only afterwards am I able to discover and lay out creative, unique solutions.
Benefits of Journal Writing

Benefits of Journal Writing
by: Rick Chapo
The benefits of journal writing are fairly well established due to the long history of journal writing. From Anne Frank to Di Vinci, journal writing has proven itself.
Benefits of Journal Writing
When considering the benefits of journal writing, it is important to set a few parameters. First, there is no age limit to using journals. There are distinct benefits for children of all ages, but journal writing is equally valuable to adults. The reason for this is journal writing is an act of personal reflection. Whether it is a teenager reflecting on the social nightmare of high school or an overworked parent taking twenty minutes a night to write is irrelevant. The point is, all age groups benefit from stepping back from their life for a few moments and reflecting on things.
Whether you recognize it or not, journal writing provides you with an anchor in your daily life. In the journal, you are free to write what you want without restrictions, to truly address the issues in your life without fear of criticism. Put another way, one of the benefits of journal writing is it acts as a self-help psychiatrist, but for MUCH cheaper!
Article Marketing: Know your Topic
January 26, 2008
Everyone knows an expert is just a drip under pressure. I want to share a little story, rather innocent on the part of one person that made a difference in the life of a rather well known preacher.
A dear friend of mine spent her years working for the Lord, and this took her places she might never have gone. For most of her children’s early adult lives, long enough to put them through college, she spent her years cooking at a small private college, in order to obtain reduced college tuition for her children. She was an excellent cook, personable and talented, loved by all who knew her.
It was not unusual that the pastor of the church would join the students for meals, since he was also the Dean of the College. He was usually asked to pray over the meal. This pastor was long winded. He had a tendency to drone on and on, his tone changing slightly, often dropping just below the point where he could be heard by my friend who was nearly tone deaf. However, the constant drip from the faucet in the kitchen could be heard miles away, and she was quite tuned into its incessant communications.
Why Do I Write - A Masochists Dream

Why Do I Write - A Masochists Dream
by: Marie Pacha
My website administrator has given me an assignment. I am to write an article and explain why it is that I write. That sounded so simple until I sat staring at this blank expanse of white.
Do you want the dramatic version, or the logical one that almost makes sense; well at least if you know me? Oh heck, I’m just going to start writing and see what comes out.
Let me tell you what I believe about words to begin with, and because I believe some of my most profound statements come out in rhyme that’s how you are going to get them.
What is this place? Why it is SO unique!!
Look, I have eyes, and a face, are those FEET?
There’s a blob on my face. I shall call it a nose.
And those wiggly things on my feet, shall be toes.
There on the keyboard, those must be hands,
connected to the rest, by long bendable bands.
At the end of my hands, are those fingers or toes?
Successful Book Marketing The Natural Way - Part 2
January 26, 2008
Is your mind muddy on book marketing? Do you wake up each day and say, “I’m not a social person and I hate to beat the drum for my book” or “I just wish someone else could market my book for me”?
If you could market your book a pleasurable way, you may not think it a chore. Natural marketing refers to the action you take to get the word out about your service and product that rings true to your heart. It feels effortless without struggle, where ideas pop out, you lose track of time engaging in them, and you can’t act on them fast enough! Natural marketing feels authentic and inspired.
Unnatural marketing feels like your actions go against what feels true for you. It isn’t what you like to do normally; it isn’t what you can do easily. Using this tactic, you may feel bored, fearful, or ambivalent. You go through the motions, but a part of you resists. When resistances and doubts pop up you can be sure they affect every marketing decision that can lead to small gains or a large success. They also do not attract willing readers and customers.
Six Weeks to Sustained Self-Promotion

Six Weeks to Sustained Self-Promotion
by: Pamela White
Writers write.
Want more money? Then memorize this phrase: “Writers promote.”
Think you don’t have time to organize a marketing plan for
yourself, your books, your website? Try this six-week plan to a sustained program of self-promotion and you, too, will find new friends who will help you, editors who approach you, and readers who will follow you throughout your writing career.
Week One: Focus on online message boards and lists. Yahoo, MSN,
Topica and Smartgroups all have online discussion lists that you can
search by topic. Sign up, read past messages, then decide whether
you’ll stay with the list or move on. Some lists have nothing but
spam messages; others are packed with information. Register with
message boards that focus on writing. Do the same with these as you
did the lists. Choose at least five to participate in. Choose two
days a week, at a minimum, on which you will send messages to the
lists. Be aware than many of the same writers will be on more than
one list so don’t just write a canned message and send it to
Article Writing Made Simple
January 25, 2008
A great way for self employed professionals to enhance their reputations is to write articles. But for many, the thought of writing an article calls to mind your school days of struggling to write a composition, trapped indoors while your friends played baseball without you.
Article writing doesn’t have to be difficult and the rewards are great. Since I started writing articles, my website traffic increased, signups for my newsletters increased, the media has sought me out, and I’ve become what Stephen Van Yoder calls "slightly famous".
Here is the formula I use to write articles:
First of all, I do not see myself as a writer. You will not find me starving in a garret, suffering for my art. I see myself as a communicator. I have important and useful information to impart that can help people build successful businesses. When you look at it that way, it really takes a lot of pressure off you.
Secondly, your articles do not have to be Pulitzer Prize quality. They need to communicate information in a way your customer can relate to. If your customer is put off by high-falutin’ language, don’t use it. Speak in language that resonates with your customer. Remember, your intent is to communicate, not to win prizes or bludgeon others with your knowledge of polysyllabic words.
